Teen Classes
At Center Stage we offer a comprehensive program of dance options for recreational dancers in their teens. In the midst of high school, many teens have a limited amount of time to devote to dance, and offering classes with students of their age and level is a great option for dancers age 13 and up.
Teen Ballet is a 1.5 hour study each Wednesday with Artistic Director of CSDS, Donna Leonard. Class includes a full barre, focusing on the refined technique of ballet. Center work includes adagio, petite allegro, pirouette practice, and small combinations. Across-the-floor focuses on traveling turns, spatial work, and grand allegro. Dancers in their teens are encouraged to study ballet.
We also offer Teen Jazz, Teen Lyrical and a great Hip Hop class that precedes the Wednesday ballet class.
“Teen Rec” is a class that meets each Friday afternoon and focuses on a variety of contemporary dance styles. This class is open to dancers who are studying both Teen Ballet & Teen Jazz and are looking for extra study with Ensemble choreographer and Assistant Director of CSDS, Christina Leonard-Kristan. Dancers in the “Teen Rec” class will compete 1 – 2 times in the Spring along with our Ensemble Teams.
