Ballet & Pointe

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of a dance forms.  It teaches discipline, focus and grace to dancers of all ages.  Students in grades 1 and 2 are offered a 45-minute ballet class that consists of basic barre and center work.  Students will progress to moving across-the-floor throughout the year and will perform a classical ballet routine in the recital.  Grades 3-6 are offered a 1-hour ballet class. This class consists of a full barre, center work in pirouettes, petite allegro, and adagio, and grand allegro and turns across the floor.  Once our dancers reach the teen or Ensemble Team level, ballet classes are 1 hour and 30 minutes.  This allows the advancing dancer to receive the patient and attentive training that is necessary in ballet. CSDS prides itself on teaching correct placement & imparting knowledge of ballet terminology and the culture behind it to its students.  Advanced students will occassionally learn repertoire work in class. Grade 1 and up
