Ballet Tap Jazz Lyrical Modern Hip Hop Pointe Kindercombo Creative Dance Musical Theater | |
Creative Dance Designed to introduce 3 & 4 y/o students to movement and music through creative movement techniques and musical interactions. Using basic dance concepts, this program develops motor skills, sociability and gives kids a fun, hands-on intro to the world of ballet. Ages 2.9 - 4 Kindercombo A 1 hr. program for 5 & 6 year olds with 30 minutes each of Ballet & Tap. This is done to introduce the basic fundamentals of these two dance disciplines while still incorporating many creative dance aspects of music, rhythm, partner work and games. Ages 5 – 6 Ballet The foundation of all dance forms. It teaches discipline and grace to dancers of all ages. Teaching correct placement & knowledge of ballet terms, ballet training approaches the body as a fine-tuned instrument. Technique-based training is offered at beginner level to advanced. Grade 1 and up Pointe For the advancing ballet student who is ready to take their ballet training a step further and dance in pointe shoes. Ankle strength, correct placement & proper execution of ballet technique is required. Premature pointe work can result in injury, and it is the sole decision of the director whether or not a student is ready for pointe. Age 11 + Tap An original dance form that emphasizes the beat by making sounds with metal taps fastened to the soles of the shoes. The focus is on strong technique and musicality, with an emphasis on the roots of Tap and work of such greats as Buster Brown, Honi Coles, Jimmy Slyde, Gregory Hines and more. Grade 1 and up
JazzA stylized form of American dance using many styles and rhythms to coordinate, stretch and tone the body. Influential styles in our jazz training include Broadway, Contemporary, Funk and Traditional. We strive to incorporate the styles of Jack Cole, Jerome Robbins, Bob Fosse, Gus Giordano and Luigi. Gr. 1 students studying ballet may take Intro Jazz. Gr. 2 students, ballet not required but highly recommended. Grade 3 and up Hip Hop S street-born dance form that sets rhythm-based movement to old-school & modern day music. Age-appropriate music & choreography is considered by the teacher. This genre builds strength and stamina through a high-impact class. Age 9 and up. *Please note, KID FUNK is an intro to hip hop for ages 6 – 8. Musical Theater A class that focus on the performing arts in three ways; dancing, acting and singing. Through the use of acting warm-up exercises, improvisational games, repertoire choreography & improvisation students will learn to perform with style and confidence. Age 8 and up
ModernA 20th century form of dance that uses a variety of techniques to enhance strength, control, and versatility of the upper body contrasted by a grounded, strong base in the lower half of the body. Class structure includes a warm-up, traveling progressions, floor work and choreography. Faculty incorporates influential modern dance styles from Lester Horton and Jose Limon. Age 9 and up Lyrical/Contemporary An expressive form of dance that incorporates ballet technique, jazz dance, and many story-telling elements. Interpretive movements emphasize the release of the upper body contrasted with innovative leaps, jumps and strong lines. This dance form connects the dancer to the audience through a variety of emotions. Age 9 and up Top of Page |
